EXECUTIVE PROTECTION SERVICES
We are a small firm, therefore we are able to customize our services to each of our client's individual needs and expectations, without compromising quality to meet those needs or changing our tactics to meet expectations. Our approach to protecting executives, their families and business interests has three phases:
Phase 1) Immediate physical security and determination of the severity of the threat to your safety.
Phase 2) Temporary measures to restore overall physical security and a methodical and careful analysis of the threat, and how best to manage or neutralize it.
Phase 3) Permanent procedures to insure long term security to the family and business interests of the client and a judicial and possibly penal solution to the cause of the threatening event.
This is a goal oriented approach to your problem and it's ultimate resolution. Due to the many variables in critical incidents such as individual lifestyles, family obligations, religious beliefs and other factors, it is impossible to be specific in terms of method. However, some general principles as to how these goals can be accomplished are in order. The principles that we embrace and adhere to are not new. They evolved from feudal Japan, where the protection of family (dynasty) and their assets (wealth and land) were entrusted to the Samurai and the way of Bushido. Much has changed in the past few centuries, but these changes amount to nothing more than equipment and logistics. The goals and principles of the ancient Samurai endure, and continue to guide us today.
This brings us to our first order of business, in regards to our client's needs and expectations. We know that they need to have security and order restored for themselves and their family as quickly as possible. So they can focus on jobs or business and return to their daily routine. You probably expect to have this occur at minimal impact to you on all levels, physically, emotionally, logistically and financially. If you are a family person, committed to children and you and your partner both work or have your own business, this is all the more relevant. And if this is how you feel...you're correct. We want you to know that we feel the same. So, if your needs are for us to make compromises in how we discreetly blend into your lifestyle, we are happy to oblige. However, if we believe that your expectations will expose us or you to unnecessary danger, we will not compromise. The reason I make this point is two fold. Since you are contemplating putting your lives and assets in our hands, you have a right to know our principles. And since our failure could be tragic, failure is not an option.
And finally my somewhat unique background and training allows me to say " I know what your going through and I know how you feel". Since I am a protector and have been a "protectee", I do know (see resources page for links to my personal story). Now because this website is a public forum and is available to potential threats to our protectees, nothing that could give them any insight into our methods or procedures can be discussed on these pages. Below you will find a schedule of the types of threats that we manage.

Max and Christine Caulfield provide security for our client's private party. This client found herself in a great deal of distress, the specifics of which cannot be discussed. I can say that the threat was very real, our client already had a "near miss" in what we believed was an attempt to intimidate her, at very least. She however was not. She is a very strong women. She is a corporate CEO who has never even heard of "the glass ceiling." The party in her home, which was a 17,500 square foot water- front home. With 4 floors and 22 exterior doors. In her great room is a computer operated pipe organ with 1000 pipes 2 organs and a grand piano. This room has 38 foot ceilings. It is also on a private road. In short, a security nightmare. Add to this a guest list of over 300 people a few of which had "dignitary" status and armed security people with them. Just one more catch, she doesn't want the guest's to know why were there. You are looking at what guests saw when they arrived Max & Christine. If you enlarge the above photo (click it) all you will see in my hand is a radio, so I could speak with the valet's...of course. Christine's ear mike is concealed by her long hair (normally in a ponytail). What don't you see? Plenty. Nearly 20 protection specialist's well concealed throughout the site. From people on the roof to the road, among the valet's, working in the kitchen and with food server's, to a boat patrolling the shoreline, to two K-9's and their handlers. The party went without a hitch. The cost? Staggering by anyone's standard I'm sure. Piece of mind? Priceless. This was a case of extremes.

LEVEL 1 THREAT: Low RISK: Minimal
Including: Trespassing, repeated property crimes (unoccupied structures or conveyances), vague or veiled verbal threats or harassment, threatening or harassing mail or e-mails.
LEVEL 2 THREAT: Moderate RISK: Increased
Including: On-line harassment or threats, obsessive communications, chat-room stalking, in-person delivery of threatening notes, letters or graffiti, direct vandalism of personal property ie; vehicles, marine vessels or personal aircraft, vandalism of security systems, devices or cameras, unwanted and inappropriate pursuit ie; flowers, candy, gifts, mementos, tokens, etc. Vandalism of structures that are (known to be) occupied, attempted entry or burglary of (known to be) occupied structures, theft of only personal or financial belongings or undergarments (but not valuables). Direct and specific threats by telephone or e-mail (particularly of a lurid or sexual nature), attempted contact with your children's school or after school personnel. Feelings of being watched or followed or reports by your children or household staff of the same.
LEVEL 3 THREAT: High RISK: Extreme
Including: Specific threatening communications, vandalism, or graffiti for the purpose of intimidation or to convey hate messages, intentional injury or killing of a family pet or livestock, arson of vehicles or structures, evidence of ritualistic activity on your rural property, stalking, stalking with physical confrontation, aggravated stalking, workplace violence incidents of you or your employees or domestic violence incidents, or disciplining or termination of an employee, where threats are made to you, your management staff or by proxy (these threats should be taken seriously). Threats made to you or your employees by disgruntled customers or vendors. Children or family members involved in street gang or criminal activity involving juvenile or adult accomplices (it's just a matter of time until they bring the problem home), at-risk or runaway children involved in these activities, who have access to your home or business.
Unpaid gambling debts or moneys owed to illegal "lending services" and funds or "favors" owed to sellers of illegal narcotics or other criminal elements (either by you or your teenage children)(*)
Repeated sightings or actual discovery of a "peeping tom" or burglary attempts (study's have shown that many criminals convicted of sexual assaults, rape and sexual homicide began their criminal careers as residential burglars and or "peeping toms"). Burglary, armed robbery, sexual assault (our experience indicates that victims of these types of crimes are often victimized again a short time later by the same subject, if they have not yet been apprehended). Kidnap and or ransom threats or "jokes" made against you, your family or company.
Travel to urban environments that are in "social decline" within the U.S. for the purpose of property surveys, or development of construction revitalization reasons. Transportation of precious metals, stones or other goods of high value that are negotiable. Travel to areas outside the U.S. for business or recreation that are deemed dangerous by the U.S. Department of State.
(*) In these cases reluctance to notify law enforcement is understandable, but they should be notified.
In any of the above circumstances there are a few things you should do.
1) Get yourself and your family to a place of safety immediately.
2) Dial 911 or contact your municipal, state or federal law enforcement professionals.
3) If appropriate activate your family or company emergency plan.
4) Contact your Attorney for advice about exective protection / threat management.
5) Contact Caulfield Investigations or have your Attorney contact us. We're here to help.
STAY SAFE!

17,500 square feet. 38 foot ceilings in this room. Behind the glass in front of the instruments 1000 pipes. On the wood at the top of the photo, various musical horns and other instruments. We lived there with our client for nearly two months. Never did get used to it. But there are worse places to be under siege.

Our Training
|
|
|
We have been fortunate enough to have received training from the preeminent law enforcement schools and instructors from the public and private sectors, in the nation. Our training includes unarmed and armed conflict resolution, critical incident management, emergency survival procedures, hostage negotiation and rescue skills, first respondent medicine, demolition search and identification, electronic security and counter-measures, observational psychology, emergency vehicle operation, escape and evasion driving, limousine and motorcade procedures, defensive and offensive driving, surveillance and counter-surveillance, counter-terrorist tactics, interview and interrogation skills, tactical weapons training using paintball guns and live fire drills, crisis management, foreign weapons handling and maintenance, canine training and emergency veterinary procedures and executive and dignitary protocol. While receiving the training is important, maintaining the training through practice is critical. Our "down time" is not really down time at all. We maintain our emergency readiness by constantly seeking to improve our skills. In the classroom, on the range and on the street, we are striving for perfection. We believe the favorite slogan of legendary lawman of the U.S. Border Patrol and master gunfighter Bill Jordan "There are no second place winners." We spend on average, forty to eighty hours per year on refresher and classroom instruction. We devote no less than 4 hrs per week to maintaining our tactical weapons skills on the firing range and equipment maintenance, firing no less than 1000 rounds of ammunition in different calibers and loads in our carry weapons per month, thats at least 12,000 rounds per year. To name just a few of the schools, instructors, classes and seminars: The Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving, Phoenix, AZ. ESI (Executive Security International) Aspen, Colorado. Advanced Executive Protection Program (Composite Score 99%), Scotti School of Defensive Driving (Anthony J. Scotti) Executive Protection Program. Medford, MA. Student to Instructor Ratio 1 to 1 (Total Score 94.75%), Lethal Force Institute (Massad F. Ayoob) Concord, New Hampshire. Smith & Wesson Academy Springfield, MA. Monodnock PR-24 Sidehandle Baton Certification Forest Park, IL, Lindall Handgun Retention System Forest Park, IL, The Reid Technique of Interviewing and Interrogation (Basic & Advanced) Seattle, WA, P.O.S.T. (Police Officer Survival Tactics) Northwestern University Traffic Institute, Seattle, WA, Calibre Press Street Survival & W.I.N. seminar, Seattle,WA, Pacific Pistolcraft (John Lawson) Tacoma, WA, Harvey Jack McGeorge U.S. Secret Service Ret., John S. Farnam, D.E. Nicholson U.S. Immigration & Naturalization Service Ret. We have been trained on the Revolver, Semi-Auto Pistol, Combat Shotgun Semi-Auto & Pump, MP5 9mm Submachinegun. While speaking of training it should be noted that on a protection detail, should the need to use a weapon, especially a firearm become necessary, we have failed. Advance work, preparation and vigilance should preclude the need for executive protection emergency procedures.

Our favorite pass time is the game of PaintBall. While we try not to we sometimes think of it as just another tactical exercise. Since we play at a competition level, it's hard not to. We started this company with revenue provided by the field we built and owned. We are quite proud of it. If you have never tried the game you should. It's great exercise and about the most fun you can have with your clothes on. I included these photos, from the write-up in the industry magazine, if your interested.

An individual contacts us and requests assistance. He asks that we act as liaison to Federal Authority's, because he has information possible violations of federal law. If his information is true, it involves serious allegations involving corruption, passport fraud, a person wanted on an international warrant for the theft of 50 million dollars from a European bank and possible terrorist ties. His problem? He's in this country illegally. After meeting with the agents, he asks us if we could help him get rid of some counterfeit money...we said"sure!" This story will be in our first newsletter.
